Are Students Receiving Age Appropriate
Sex Education in Connecticut Schools?
Please join our grassroots efforts to ensure age-appropriate sex education for all Connecticut’s students!
What You Can Do In 3 East Steps!
1. Call your town’s School Superintendent.
Using the town listing that we’ve provided to you, please call your town’s school superintendent to schedule a meeting. Explain that you are a town resident and interested in learning about the school’s sex education curriculum for K-12. If the superintendent is not the appropriate person, inquire about who has responsibility for managing this curriculum and ask to be transferred to their office to schedule a meeting.
2. Interview your Superintendent.
You don’t need to be an expert on Sex Education. Our questionnaire provides you with the questions that you should ask. We have also provided you with a fact sheet on the current sex education policy in Connecticut. You can conduct this interview in person or by telephone. Remember, you are a taxpaying citizen of your town and have every right to ask these detailed questions of your officials.
3. Let us know what School Superintendent you will be calling & return the completed questionnaire to NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut via email or fax by November 9th.
NEXT STEPS…
NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut will use these findings to propose and lobby for legislation during the 2009 legislative session to ensure that all schools deliver age-appropriate sex education to our students. Be part of this grassroots initiative and stay tuned for developments!
