NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut PAC Endorses Heinrich
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Hartford, CT- NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut PAC is pleased to announce our endorsement of Deborah Heinrich for State Representative in both the Primary and General Elections. Representative Heinrich is the incumbent in the 101st District of Madison and North Guilford. NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut PAC is the only PAC in the state dedicated to evaluating candidates solely on their position regarding women’s reproductive freedom. Endorsement is given only to those candidates who have requested endorsement and who are deemed by the PAC to be 100% pro-choice. During her two terms in state office, Deborah Heinrich has been a proven leader and vocal advocate for choice in Connecticut. In 2006 and 2007, Heinrich helped mobilize fellow legislators to support “Compassionate Care for Rape Victims”, a landmark piece of legislation that offers and provides rape victims with emergency contraception in the emergency department at which they arrive. “Representative Heinrich is a tireless advocate for women’s reproductive health,” said Cari Carter, PAC Chair. “She has been a leader in protecting choice, working for better access to emergency contraception, and against bills and amendments that chip away at our reproductive freedom.” All Candidates endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut PAC pledge, if elected, to vote against anti-choice bills, those that would restrict access to the full spectrum of reproductive health services, from contraception, to carrying a healthy pregnancy to term, to choosing a safe and legal abortion. Understanding the importance of prevention, endorsed candidates also support comprehensive, medically accurate, and age-appropriate sexuality education that is based on medically accurate information.
