NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut Hosts 30th Anniversary Auction & Dinner

Modified: 10/21/2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut held their 30th Annual Auction & Dinner last Thursday evening, October 16, to celebrate 30 years of protecting and promoting reproductive choice in Connecticut.  State and National elected officials were in attendance including Congressman Chris Murphy, Comptroller Nancy Wyman, President Pro Tempore Donald Williams, State Senator Jonathan Harris, Majority Leader Chris Donavan, State Representative Denise Merrill, and State Representative David McCluskey.

NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut honored three Catherine Roraback Award recipients, Francise Kleinman, Cathy Holahan, and Michelle Noehren.  This award is named in tribute to civil rights attorney, Catherine Roraback who in 1965 successfully argued before the US Supreme Court in Griswold v. Connecticut, that the right of married couples to obtain contraception is protected under the privacy rights established in the Constitution.

All three recipients have expressed dedication and strength in promoting reproductive health and choice and were extremely gracious in their receipt of the award.  Ms. Kleinman, Ms. Holahan, and Ms. Noehren were also honored by Governor Jodi Rell, State Treasurer Denise Nappier, Comptroller Nancy Wyman, and Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and received official state citations.

Hartford Courant Columnist, Susan Campbell served as celebrity auctioneer for the evening’s festivities which proved successful for NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut which is almost entirely funded by individual contributions.
